Anxiety

Picture
“I worry about my family all the time.  Are my parents okay?  Are my kids safe and happy?  I can't shut my brain off.”

“Whenever I feel something weird in my body, I start to worry.  I know the doctor says I'm having panic attacks, but what if it's something way more serious?”

“I have to wash my hands any time I touch anything in my house that might have dirt or germs on it.  I could never forgive myself if I got one of my kids sick."

Everyone feels anxious from time to time - but having an anxiety disorder is different.  You can't get out of your own head.  You can't enjoy what is happening in the here and now because your mind is laser-focused on rehashing the past or worrying about future catastrophes. You avoid things in an effort to feel less overwhelmed, yet you can't shake the feeling that your anxiety is getting bigger while your life is growing smaller.

Approach to Treatment
Research has shown that cognitive-behavioral therapy is an effective treatment for anxiety disorders and OCD, both as a stand-alone treatment and in conjunction with psychiatric medication.

I offer cognitive-behavioral therapy for clients struggling with:
  • Excessive worry and generalized anxiety
  • OCD
  • Panic Disorder
  • Health anxiety

You can learn to live a full, meaningful life, even with anxiety and uncertainty.
